Dmitri Kiselov, Effect of quasiparticles on the parameters of a gap-engineered transmon
Here is a list of recent papers which seem to be interesting to learn about. Interested PhD students are invited to choose one paper from the list and to prepare a report (about 1 hour long) that will provide a critical consideration of the major content of this paper.
Information on the paper choice and appropriate date of the report should be communicated to mvfeigel@gmail.com.
The first part of each seminar is expected to communicate to the audience the authors’ approach and statements in a clear enough form. If the reporter disagrees with some authors’ approaches or statements, this should be immediately explained in the report. For all the statements with which the reporter agrees, he/she should be able to answer questions from the audience like ‘on behalf of the authors’. This means that careful study of both main text and supplements is necessary.
Sometimes, if the article appears to be controversial, discussion of strains and mistakes may constitute a second part of the seminar (typically, beyond 1 hour allocated for the report itself).
It is also important that reporter presents the results of the paper in the context of previous studies in the same research direction. This means that some previous literature should be studied as well, to certain extent.
